Dongshi is an important fruit producing area in Taichung. This time, I had the honour to visit one of the orchards, "Dongxin Orchard", which covers an area of 12 hectares and has been established for about 20 years. It is located on the roadside in the direction of the Dongshi Forest Recreation Area, so many tourists who visit this most beautiful forest in Taichung during their holidays will also come here to enjoy picking fresh fruits as a family.
The Dongshi District of Taichung City has a favourable climate for the growth of fruit plants, which has resulted in the cultivation of many sweet and juicy fruits, and the "Taichung Dongshi Camping‧Camping and Fruit Picking at Xinheyuan" is located in this fruit country, where the green mountains and water surroundings make the air filled with a refreshing atmosphere, and you can enjoy a different pace of life from the city's hustle and bustle.
Seasonal fruits vary from season to season. High-grown pears (Shinsing Pear and Fengshui Pear) are produced from June to August, sweet tomatoes from August to September, Yokoyama Pear from August to October, and mandarin oranges are picked from November to December. A wide variety of fruits are grown here, such as sweet tomatoes, peaches, pears and mandarin oranges, etc. When the fruits are ready, the whole orchard will be filled with the aroma of the fruits of the day. All the fruit trees and fruit trellis plants have been carefully cultivated by the owner, so they all grow luxuriantly and the fruits are naturally fresh, sweet and juicy.
When I visited the farm, it was the picking season for sweet tomatoes, and I could see that the fruits of each plant were very tender and tender. After the owner carefully explained the growth process and planting method of each fruit, I couldn't wait to try a bite of the tomato, which was really sweet and refreshing. After tasting the delicious fruits, you can buy some for your friends and relatives as souvenirs, they will surely love them.
Apart from seasonal fruits, the orchard also grows many beautiful flowers, such as sunflowers and cherry blossoms. Unfortunately, the cherry blossoms had already faded when I visited the orchard, but I believe that they will be in full bloom when spring arrives, so it will be a great pleasure to enjoy the fresh fruits just picked from the trees while watching the cherry blossoms.
