Anyone who has been to Bangkok will have heard of the renowned Thai restaurant Nara; its delicious food attracts many visitors. A couple of weeks ago, Nara’s sister restaurant, Apinara, opened a branch at Pacific Place. I went back there last week Apinara We had dinner and tried quite a few delicious dishes; let me briefly introduce a few of them to you.

At the renowned Thai restaurant Apinara, start your meal with an aperitif called the ‘Siam Myth’, made with vodka, pineapple juice, lime juice, chilli and lemongrass.

This Thai-style raw prawn, of Japanese sashimi grade, is so fresh that you can taste the difference the moment it touches your tongue; it is in a completely different league to ordinary Vietnamese raw prawns.

This Tom Yum Goong, with its Central Thai flavour profile, is not overly spicy, allowing the rich, savoury flavour of the prawn heads and roe to really shine through.

Next up is the signature starter, the Thai meatballs—substantial and made with quality ingredients. Wrap them in lettuce and tuck in; you’ll want to lick your fingers clean.

Another portion of fresh, springy fried prawns; whilst they may look rather ordinary on the outside, Apinara sources their prawns well, and the deep-frying process ensures they remain wonderfully springy.

Feeling thirsty? I ordered another glass of Thai tea with rum, but this time I asked for half the usual amount of alcohol. The tea’s aroma came through immediately—rich and intoxicating, with a real depth of flavour.
