【Taichung Tourism. Taiwan] Gomez Wetland - The Most Popular Nature Scenic Spot

At low tide, you can see a lot of large and small crabs in the wetland.
When the tide is out, you can see many large and small arc crabs in the Gaomei Wetland, a very popular tourist spot in central Taiwan, located between Dajia Creek and Taichung Harbour, with mud flats, gravel, tidal creeks, sandy areas, and the largest cloud forest in Taiwan, Guanchuazao Grassland, and so on.

"With a wetland area of about 700 hectares, the Gaomei Wetland has a rich and diversified wetland ecology, gathering many different species of crabs, shellfish, fish, plants and many rare migratory birds and other organisms. The area was originally a bathing beach, but after the construction of a sandbank on the north shore of Taichung Harbor, the sand from the bathing beach slowly silted up and gradually formed the beautiful and precious Gaomei Wetland today.

The "Gaomei Wetland" is very vast, with an endless landscape where you can see rows and rows of windmills, which is really spectacular, and when the tide goes out, you will see a lot of red arc crabs of all sizes and interesting mudskippers, so it is recommended to bring slippers and a towel to make it easier to walk to the wetland and play in the water. When my friends and I got tired of playing, we went to a nearby snack shop, "Bear Boat Captain", to try some authentic Taiwanese snacks. I heard that the entrance of this eatery is also one of the favourable spots to enjoy and take photos of the twilight of Gao Mei Wetland. Lastly, before you go to Gao Mei Wetland, don't forget to check the official website's tide table (https://www.gaomei.com.tw/gaomeiwetland-tide-month/), because if the tide is high, you won't be able to get in the water.
