My new taste, DKNY men!

First of all, I’d like to apologise to my friends in PR and my colleagues at Estée Lauder for the delay in this post; I’ve really got a mountain of articles to write, so I hope you’ll bear with me.

Late last month, I attended my first beauty blogger meet-up. Although a friend had asked me half a year ago if I was interested in something like this, I’d always turned them down a few times, feeling a bit shy and self-conscious. (Oh my God! What on earth is a grown man afraid of!?) ↓

This time it’s a bit differentSince Estee Lauder is a company that promotes perfumes, and I myself am in the habit of wearing perfume, that’s where my interest in attending came from, What’s more, this gathering offered another appealing angle for a homebody like me to get out and have a bit of fun: they had an iPhone app—never before released to the public—designed to help customers choose the right perfume, and they gave a handful of us bloggers a sneak preview to see what it was all about. That certainly piqued my curiosity ↓

As for what’s so fun about software, or what it’s like to tinker with it, I won’t go into that here. In any case, I’m fundamentally opposed to being labelled a “geek”, so I’ll leave it to my fellow tech bloggers to explain it—so I can finally shake off that ‘honorific’ title of ‘geek’ ↓

But to be honest, this Ascent iPhone app really is spot on. Although a developer friend has explained why it’s so accurate, for me as a user, “accurate“ is all that matters. Thinking back to the Blogger event, Ascent accurately pinpointed my preference for the scent of this perfume, which was truly incredible to me, as this Tommy Hilfiger Cologne is the only fragrance I’ve used consistently over the last few years ↓

But what deserves even more praise are the lovely ladies at Estee Lauder. When I mentioned that Tommy was my usual choice and that I was hoping to find another suitable fragrance, they were kind enough to suggest a similar scent—DKNY Men—for me to try ↓

To be honest, I fell in love with the scent of DKNY Men the moment I tried it! It really made me realise that people are always more considerate than machines.

Finally, I’d like to offer some heartfelt advice to my friends: don’t spend all day glued to your phones, cameras and computers, tending virtual fields, growing virtual crops or building virtual castles. The world is a vast place, and people are far more interesting than machines. Get to know the friends around you, so you can better distinguish right from wrong.

If you ever see me posting on Weibo from my mobile, it means I’m communicating with other extraterrestrial beings. It’s communication—a genuine exchange—and it’s quite different from tilling the soil, growing vegetables or building castles, do you understand!?

DKNY Men

UNIQUE  STRONG  SOULFUL

New York City. A beacon of modern power. The bold, distinct silhouettes of its buildings weave together against the skyline in a display of grandeur and splendour. New York City possesses an elegant soul and a vibrant spirit that deeply captivates a certain kind of man. He radiates a powerful energy, challenging himself through creativity. He exists in a state of exhilaration, bold and visionary, embracing the unknown with passion. Revolution is his truest expression; he is simply himself.

DKNY, a brand born in New York City, proudly presents a brand-new men’s fragrance designed to capture the spirit of the Manhattan skyline through its signature scent. With a bold and vibrant charm, the fragrance liberates the man and the city he inhabits. A mysterious and adventurous masculine scent speaks to the man who conquers the city. This city is his home.

DKNYMEN draws its inspiration from the city in its entirety. The clever blend of bergamot and citrus provides an instant energy boost. Juniper and sage bring a breath of fresh air to the chilly city on a rainy day. The spicy thrill of white pepper and cardamom conveys emotion. Suburban lavender and violet leaves blend delicately, whilst moist jasmine drifts through, creating an atmosphere of sophisticated complexity. Carefully selected sandalwood, cedarwood and patchouli ignite a masculine essence. Iris and vetiver reshape the structure of modern luxury, presenting a majestic and virile character.

The design of the DKNY MEN fragrance bottle is bold and unconventional. Inspired by the iconic Flatiron Building, the design draws on the building’s clean, sharp lines—strong and powerful—resulting in a bottle with a diamond-cut silhouette. The grey glass evokes the romantic atmosphere of black-and-white photography. The substantial metallic texture brings to mind the metal clasp of a pistol, complemented by a silver cap. The distinctively patterned packaging features a nostalgic bird’s-eye view of the Empire State Building, its silhouette gradually dissolving into a sky of thick clouds against the darkness.

The new DKNYMEN fragrance collection introduces two grooming products for the modern man: DKNYMEN After Shave Gel and DKNYMEN Body Wash. Presented in sleek, streamlined granite-coloured soft-touch bottles, they are ideal for both daily use and travel. These two new products cater to the urban man’s desire for sensual beauty and his fast-paced lifestyle.

The new DKNYMEN fragrance is the perfect embodiment of the DKNYMEN fashion world: offering modern streetwear for the urban man who dares to express his own style. Every garment features meticulous tailoring, an eclectic mix of styles and a diverse range of looks, all tailored to the fast pace of New York. With neutral colours suited to city life and on-trend proportions, it embodies the attitude of New York City. Founded by Donna Karan in 1990, DKNY is the casual counterpart to high fashion. Now, the creative, urban and sensual DKNY man holds a scent in his hand, ready to tell a moving story about his city, his personal style and his life.
