One of the hotels we stayed at during our trip to Taipei is located in Songshan District, a quiet and prosperous area. There are no high-rise buildings in the neighbourhood, except for the commercial building where the hotel is located, and the hotel is on the 17th to 21st floors of the commercial building, so the view is particularly open.
Hotel Design
We took the hotel's dedicated lift to the 17th floor reception, where a row of floor-to-ceiling glass makes for a bright and spacious lobby with stunning views of Taipei 101 and the Keelung River, making it a popular hotel for watching the New Year's Eve fireworks.
The design of the hotel is full of fashion and cultural creativity, I especially like the beautiful bamboo lamps in the lobby, which were specially invited by the hotel to be designed by Tainan bamboo weaving artists, and each of them has a different style.
On the right hand side of the hall there is a cosy social lounge with a football and pool table and some comfy chairs. To put it mildly, sitting here gives me the ego boost of having the earth at my feet.
Room Equipment
The corridors, interiors and furniture of the guest rooms are all in black and white, seemingly simple but very stylish, and upon closer inspection, a lot of thought has gone into the design. Even the design of the guest room doors is very interesting, with illustrations on each of the black wooden doors recording the events of the relevant year of the door number.
Open the door and you'll find a very spacious and open guest room, with a studio-style open design that adds to the sense of space. I love the black and white light industrial design with occasional colourful art deco touches. In addition to the soft, oversized bed, there's a very comfy lounge chair next to the window, and the beautiful view of Taipei 101 out the window.

The other basic facilities in the room, such as electricity, etc., are very adequate, and I think the special thing is that the chair next to the desk is a yoga ball, so you can work while exercising your body!
Also, in addition to the Nespresso capsule coffee machine and the usual complimentary tea offerings, snacks such as old-fashioned marble soft drinks and nostalgic candies were placed on the coffee table.
The white, spacious freestanding toilet and bath space feels great, with both a shower and a bathtub, so you can take a shower while enjoying the view from the window.
Hotel Facilities
The Que Log BBQ restaurant and bar is located just to the left of reception, so also has uninterrupted views from the windows. Relax with a drink at the bar before dinner and savour the delicious no-menu chef's menu.
In addition to dining facilities, the hotel has a 24-hour gym and a free self-service laundry. Guests can also borrow games and electronics such as board games, DVD players and heaters for free. If you want to rent a game console such as Playstation and Xbox, you will need to pay for it, but the cost is very affordable.
Functions of Transport and Living
Though the neighbourhood is relatively quiet, the hotel is conveniently located for living functions and transport, so eating, drinking and shopping are no problem at all.
One of the hotel's biggest selling points is the footbridge that connects the hotel to the opposite MRT and Taiwan Railway Songshan Station and the shopping mall. The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus that takes you to Xinyi and Taipei 101 in 5 minutes, and most importantly, the Raohe Night Market is just a 5-minute walk away, so you won't have to worry about running out of things to do in the evening. The hotel also has a car park, so driving is no problem.
