Taiwan. Yilan Tourism] Recommended Itinerary Lazybones - Yilan Soup Buns, World Famous Winery, Fish Harbour Fresh Seafood Snacks, Romantic Lover's Beach Walking Coffee Sighing, Deep Mountain Camping Experience

The third day of the tour is more diversified than the lazybones package. Early in the morning, I will take you to Yilan City to taste the must-try local breakfast snacks, and then visit the distillery and taste the process of making the "world's first single malt whisky". Then we will go to Nanfangao, one of the three largest fishing harbours in Taiwan, to visit the authentic fishing market and introduce the local people to the cheap and delicious seafood restaurants that they recommend. After getting drunk, I went to the nearby Lover's Bay for a walk to digest and take some photos. Finally, I decided to go back to the nature, camping in the mountains and try the exciting and unforgettable river rafting.

09:30 - 10:30
Normal steamed dumpling with fresh meat.

There is one gourmet snack you can't miss when you come to Yilan, and that is the Yilan dumplings with lots of sweet soup and fresh green onions. Normal Dumpling Buns with Fresh Meat has a history of nearly 20 years in Yilan. Originally, Normal Dumpling Buns had two shops in Yilan, but the brother's shop on Taishan Road has been renamed "Just Right Dumpling Buns" in recent years, and now there is only one shop opened by the brother on Yixing Road.
The owner and his staff are constantly wrapping the finest black pork and Yilan three-star green onions into each piecrust, and there is always a long queue despite the small number of seats at this small shop. The thin, springy crusts of the cakes, with a little green onion, and the rich soupy fillings, give off a light green onion flavour, making them delicious without soy sauce. It is so popular that if you come too late, it will be sold out.

10:30-12:30
Kavalan Kavalan distillery.

Kavalan was the old name for Yilan, and it is interesting to note that the distillery built by Golden Car in December 2005 was named after it in appreciation of the gift of this precious land. Yilan has an abundance of quality water that is perfect for distilling, and the owner, whose father is the coffee king of Taiwan, visited famous whisky distilleries in Japan and Scotland to learn from them, and eventually created a whisky that is uniquely Taiwanese, and which has won many international awards and is the world's number one in the world.
The Kavalan distillery is a very grand western-style building, which is visited by hundreds of tourists on weekends. As soon as I entered the winery, I was attracted by the aroma of wine. Every hour, there will be a tour guide to show visitors around the winery and explain the wine making process, maximum 14 people per tour, registration is available at Café Bertrand. Visitors can also visit the tasting area at designated times for a paid tasting of four Kavalan whiskies of their choice. The most interesting part of the tour is that there is a mixology class where you can make your own whisky and take it home with you.

12:30 - 14:30
South Australia.

Nanfangao is the largest land-link island in Eastern Taiwan, located in the southeastern part of the town of Suao, Yilan, and has unique and rich coastal geomorphological landscapes, such as sea cliffs, beaches, headlands, sea caves, and coastal reefs, etc. The fishing port of Nanfangao is one of the three largest in Taiwan. In addition, Nanfangao's fishing harbour is one of the three largest fishing harbours in Taiwan. The excellent terrain is a natural barrier, and facing the Pacific Ocean, there are rich seafood resources, so it has become an important base for offshore fishing, and 80% of the residents here are engaged in the fishing industry. There are three fishing harbours in Nanfangao, each with its own function and different characteristics. The first fishing harbour, Nanfangao Fishing Harbour, is the earliest fishing harbour, where visitors can taste delicious seafood in the seafood shops; the second fishing harbour, Neipi Fishing Harbour, is the smallest among the three, where fresh and raw seafood can be purchased at low prices; and the third fishing harbour, which is relatively quiet, is only used by some offshore and large-scale purse-seine fishing vessels. Visitors can savour the delicious seafood and enjoy the natural coastal scenery in Nanfangao.

14:30 - 16:30
Lai Ying Seafood.

Nanfangao is one of the three famous fishing harbours in Taiwan, where you can see fishing boats returning from their fishing trips. There are many seafood shops along the fishing harbour to attract customers, but with so many tourists, the prices of some shops are not reasonable. If you go in by yourself, you might get ”chopped to pieces”. Luckily, a local recommended us to go to a cheap and tasty Lai Ying Seafood Restaurant in the Nanning Market.
First of all, come to the stall to choose your seafood and how to prepare it, there is a menu on top of the stall for diners' reference. There is a wide selection of seafood, such as puffer fish, cinnamon crab, seaweed, seasonal fish and so on, but the fresh fish slices are a must-order, as they are crystal clear in colour and firm in texture, very fresh and inexpensive. The cooking method here is based on the principle of savouring the original freshness of the seafood. In addition to seafood, we also ordered a few side dishes and fried rice, just a few simple rice dishes, which already shows that Lai Ying Seafood's cooking skills are not bad.

16:30 - 18:30
Neipi Beach (Lover's Bay).

The original home of the Pingpu Kavalan people, Neipi Beach (Lover's Bay) is located three kilometres from the starting point of the Suhua Highway, next to the Beibin Park near the Nanfangao fishing port area. The curved beach is a natural barrier to the Neipi fishing harbour, with a variety of different seascapes and terrains, such as undersea rocky reefs, headlands and sea cliffs. Under the blue sky and white clouds, a sand dune facing the Pacific Ocean and a gravel beach made of gravel and fine sand with different colours and patterns are piled up, and they even sparkle under the refraction of the sunlight. Because of the romantic and enchanting scenery, it often attracts many couples to come here to talk about their love and walk slowly, so it is nicknamed "Lover's Beach".
However, the beautiful Lover's Bay is full of dangerous slopes, which are prone to undercurrents and sudden big waves, so it is only suitable for taking a walk and taking photos, but definitely not suitable for swimming, so we should pay attention carefully. There are a few cafes with sea view, so after a slow walk on the beach under the scorching sun, you can enjoy a cup of ice-cold drink in a leisurely manner.

18:30~
Camping on that hill and valley farm.

Nashan Naya Farm Camping is located in Jinyang Village, deep in the mountains of Nan'ao Township, Yilan County, surrounded by clear streams and mountains, with beautiful scenery in all seasons, large grasslands and blooming flowers everywhere. In fact, Nashan Nakgu is a Thai word meaning "my home". The owner has taken great care to make this place a paradise, so that busy city dwellers like us can go back to the pure nature to recuperate and at the same time feel "at home". It's a great place for families to come and play, with adults setting up camp and children running and playing on the grass.
The camp is well-equipped with wet and dry bathrooms with 24-hour hot water supply, as well as shower gel, shampoo and hair dryer. There are several crystal clear streams for residents to enjoy activities such as stream trekking and rafting, which I also tried out and found very exciting and safe, very memorable. The camp also has a restaurant that always offers new dishes, and that night we had a barbecue meal full of flavours.
