Then we will go to Tianshuipi Station, a popular love theatre scene in recent years, to take photos as the hero and heroine of the play and reminisce about the details of the play. For lunch, try Songmanyuan's handmade cuisine, a favourite among locals, featuring seasonal Yilan seafood and organic farm vegetables cooked in a value-for-money no-menu style. Visit Yilan's most popular night market, the Luodong Night Market, and try the must-try traditional snacks. In the evening, you will stay in a warm and cosy villa.

Tai Ping Shan Forest Recreation Area (see Ching Ku Road).

Taiping Mountain Forest Recreation Area is a national forest located in Datong Township, Yilan, Taiwan, with a vast area of about 13,232 hectares. With its high mountains, green waters and rich forest resources, this secret place has become a good place for locals to explore and enjoy the beauty of nature during weekends and holidays. Among the many scenic spots in the park, this time we visited the Miaoying Ancient Trail, which has seen a surge in popularity in recent years.
The entrance is located 23 kilometres from the Yi-Exclusive Line, at an altitude of 1,890 metres. The trail is named after the sea of clouds that often appears in the afternoon, but when it clears up, you can see the Lanyang Plain and the magnificent snow-capped mountain range of the Shengliuliang Mountains. The old road was reconstructed from a part of the former Mt. Taepyeong "Miharu Timber Track", preserving the remnants of the railway that was used for logging and transporting timber at that time. It was originally 5.5 kilometres long, but due to the collapse of some sections of the track, only 900 metres of it is open for public recreation. The landscape is vast and beautiful in all seasons, and the moss-covered railway adds a poetic touch to the area. The trail is flat and easy to navigate, with a round trip of about an hour, and is suitable for young and old alike.

12:30 - 14:30
Pine Manor Handmade Cuisine.

Originally specialising in stir-fries, Songmanyuan has been renovated in recent years to become a Japanese-style creative cuisine restaurant that focuses on cooking with local Yilan ingredients. The two-storey restaurant is comfortable and spacious, decorated in elegant gold and burgundy colours in a Japanese style, with an open dining area, a bar and a separate VIP room. The restaurant uses freshly caught seasonal Yilan seafood and vegetables from its own organic farm, which are highly appreciated by locals. The menu is also very popular for its affordable menu.
With a simple serving of sashimi, the chef's insistence on using fresh and quality ingredients can be felt through the taste buds. With his excellent cooking skills, the chef has created a number of surprisingly exquisite dishes. For example, the "Salt Baked Tilapia" dish uses a large amount of salt to seal the fish before baking, preserving the original flavour of the fish and making the meat very tender. The paper hotpot beef sukiyaki, which is a mix of sweet and salty, is also good. The paper hot pot absorbs the excess fat and impurities and makes the beef tender but not greasy. When you come here, you must try the fragrant lotus tea grown at Song Man Yuan's own farm, which not only looks beautiful, but also tastes sweet and thirst-quenching.

15:00 to 16:30
Send Bei Che Station on the day.

Many years ago, there used to be a railway in Taiping Shan that mainly transported timber, and the Tin Sau Bei Station is one of the best preserved historical heritage stations among the ten stations. This station, which has no trains passing through it, was also the setting for the idol drama "The Next Station of Happiness", starring actor Wu Jianhao. Originally a small station that did not attract much attention, the drama made it famous and it became a hot new attraction that is loved by tourists.
Located at the intermediate station between Sanshing and Qingshui Lake, Tianshepi Station was built in 1921 during the Japanese rule period, and is one of the two remaining wooden stations in Taiwan with its ancient, Japanese architectural style. In the past, the station was used to transport timber from Taipingshan and local residents to and from the station. Inside the light blue station, there are historical photos and artefacts on display, while outside the station, the tracks and historical traces of the timber transport have been preserved. Near the station are several famous snack shops, such as Ho's Scallion Pie, Samsung Grandma's Scallion Pie, and Chunmi Xiangbou Pork, which you can buy on your way back to the station.

17:30 - 20:00
Pine Full of Edge.

Songmanyuan was born from a filial son, Song, the owner of the B&B. This is a big house that he bought for his parents to have a better living environment. However, because the house was too big, Song's parents refused to move in for fear of loneliness, and it was eventually converted into a B&B. This is the ideal place for his parents to live, so you can feel the warmth of home everywhere. The entire B&B is decorated in original wood, with a shared living room and a shared bathroom for guests to use, and some rooms even have private bathrooms.
The room I stayed in wasn't huge, but it was medium-sized, bright and clean, with a large, comfortable bed, elegant wooden floors, furniture and wallpaper in soft, warm colours, and no frills, but with all the basics, it made me feel right at home, and I could rest in peace. Outside, there is a spacious green garden and basketball court, which is perfect for families to walk and play in the daytime, and enjoy the quiet starry moonlit nights at night. The B&B is a 15-minute drive from Luodong Railway Station. It takes about 10 to 20 minutes to get to Shanhe Park and Luodong Night Market.
