It had been raining for several days, but thankfully the weather was on our side for a Happy Friday. Two weeks ago, the beer brand Tiger Beer organised a street party on Tai Ping Shan Street in Sheung Wan.Tiger Beer has combined art and technology to create an ink derived from air pollutants, which it has named Tiger Air-Ink. Thanks to this eco-friendly invention, Hong Kong has been chosen as the first region to host a campaign promoting environmental protection.
During the event, Tiger Beer teamed up with a group of local street artists, including Ken Lee, founder of Dirty Panda, Calvin Ho, XEME, Lei Lei, AFA ANFA, Smilemaker (aka Roes), Bao Ho, Cath Love, Kristopher Ho, Caratoes and Sinic, to create a number of stunning street art-style pieces.
As well as showcasing the works of various street artists, Tiger Beer has transformed a vacant unit into a temporary ‘Live Lab’, allowing Anirudh Sharma, the Indian inventor of Air-Ink, to explain how Air-Ink is produced from pollutants. Beer enthusiasts who love street culture can also pick up their paintbrushes and give free rein to their creativity.
Tiger Beer had reserved two bars for the beer enthusiasts in attendance, where, naturally, Tiger Beer and a variety of finger food were on offer. Fans were able to enjoy the street art whilst listening to music and savouring the beer and food. This eco-friendly invention, developed in collaboration with Tiger Beer, combines art and technology in a truly meaningful way; I hope that, through further promotion, it will be adopted by a wider audience in the future.
