With 40,000 cross-trimming strokes per minute, there should be a lot of heat generated to irritate the skin, but that's where Braun's technology comes in, and there's not much difference in the amount of heat generated when compared to the other mid-range model. The Direct & Cut and HyperLift & Cut parts are most effective when used for shaving around the chin and gills, as the beard in this area is multi-directional, and there are many follicles with two roots at the same time, which can cause skin irritation if not shaved thoroughly enough. The Braun Series 9 is obviously quicker and cleaner, almost double the time, I would say. I'd say it's almost twice as fast. A shave that takes 10 minutes normally takes only 5-6 minutes with the Braun Series 9.
