It was built in the sixteenth century to commemorate Che Gong (Grand Marshal Che), a renowned general of the Ming Dynasty. A couplet in gold characters on a black background hangs on the stone pillars flanking the entrance, whilst the fortune-telling area to the left of the temple features several stalls where fortune-tellers interpret the oracle slips for visitors. A bell tower and a drum tower stand on either side of the main hall. A colossal statue of Che Kung stands majestically upon the altar in the centre of the main hall, inspiring a sense of awe and reverence.
The easiest way is to take the MTR and alight at Che Kung Miu Station on the East Rail Line, then walk for 5–8 minutes.
Motorists are advised to arrive before 2.00 pm, as the rush begins at 3.00 pm; queuing for a space at the Xincui Village car park alone can take 30–45 minutes.
