Once you\u2019ve compared the options, you can go straight to the booking site that best suits your needs. With so many booking sites to choose from, I\u2019ve recently been using the Chinese platform Ctrip quite a lot. Perhaps because it\u2019s a relatively new entrant to the market, its prices are often cheaper than those of established sites such as Hotels.com and Agoda, presumably to attract more new customers. However, it\u2019s naturally better to check the established sites for guest reviews, as they offer more hotel information, photographs and options, and are far more comprehensive. A word of advice: often, the cheapest room isn\u2019t necessarily the best choice. You need to consider the room type, size, whether there\u2019s free Wi-Fi and breakfast, and so on\u2014in short, the overall \u2018value for money\u2019 is what really counts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The William Bu Guest House reopened at the end of 2014 following a refurbishment, and the facilities are brand new. The guest house is very well connected: as well as being accessible via the direct A21 airport bus, it is just a five-minute walk from Yau Ma Tei MTR station, and is not far from Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok either. Although Yau Ma Tei is a bustling area, the guesthouse is well soundproofed, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle with absolutely no noise. Not only are there a great many shops and restaurants nearby, but it is also close to popular tourist attractions such as Temple Street, Mei To Restaurant and the Jade Market.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mei Ho House, a Grade II listed building, was completed in 1954. It was revitalised from the former Shek Kip Mei Resettlement Block, a public housing estate in Hong Kong, and has been transformed into the modern youth hostel it is today. Mei Ho House harmoniously blends its architectural heritage with contemporary facilities, which include the \u2018Mei Ho House Living Museum\u2019 \u2013 a museum dedicated to public housing \u2013 as well as a caf\u00e9, multi-purpose spaces and exhibition venues. The hostel offers 109 twin rooms, nine dormitories, two family rooms and four rooms adapted for people with disabilities, providing ample accommodation capacity. The youth hostel has preserved the unique spatial design of the Shek Kip Mei Resettlement Estate, recreating the daily lives and leisure habits of the original residents, as well as their close-knit neighbourhood ties. Now you too can stay in rooms converted from Hong Kong\u2019s former public housing flats and experience this authentic, grassroots way of life.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the distinctive features of staying in a youth hostel is that there\u2019s less of a sense of distance between people, making it easier to chat with other guests and make new friends. As well as shared dormitory rooms, there are also family rooms and twin rooms to choose from. The rooms are not small and offer plenty of space for luggage. However, unlike hotels, hostels do not provide slippers or disposable toiletries, and when you check out, you must remember to remove the bed sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases and hand them in at reception.<\/p>\n
