\nAs well as Hong Kong\u2019s famous snacks, egg tarts<\/span>, milk tea, pineapple buns and the like; claypot rice has also been a staple in the lives of countless Hong Kongers as they grew up, and is one of the signature dishes of Hong Kong-style caf\u00e9s, brimming with authentic local flavour. Whenever claypot rice comes to mind, Wing Shing Hei Caf\u00e9 is always on my list of choices. Their most famous dish, the beef claypot rice with poached egg, is my absolute favourite. As all the claypot rice dishes here are made to order, the waiting time is quite long, but for such a delicious meal, it\u2019s well worth the wait.<\/span>
\nAs soon as you lift the lid, crack a raw egg onto the rich, fragrant beef, mix the two together, then replace the lid and wait a moment for the heat to cook the egg through. The perfectly separate grains of rice, paired with the pre-seasoned beef and the crispy rice crust at the bottom\u2014which is the real highlight\u2014make for a truly unforgettable dish. I highly recommend it.<\/span><\/p>\n
